September 7th, 14th, 21st, 28th

WHO:
The practices are open to cyclists of all experience levels and ages. However, all participants must either hold a valid USA Cycling License or purchase a one-day license for each practice (at an additional cost of $5.00). For more information on licensure see: http://www.usacycling.org.

EQUIPMENT:
Participants may use any type of bicycle that has working brakes. Mountain bikes are welcome, but we ask that you remove the bar ends per USA Cycling rules for cyclo-cross racing. All participants must wear a helmet.

COST:
$2.00 per practice with license; $7.00 per practice with one-day license. The costs cover the insurance for the practices through USA Cycling. No profit is made from these practices. Donations are accepted for the purchase of new course markers and barrier materials.

FORMAT:
Each practice will feature a marked cyclo-cross course with natural and plastic practice barriers that require dismounting and remounting your bicycle. Inexperienced riders are welcome to ride around the barriers if they need to do so. The specific format will vary each practice, but will consist primarily of mock races of varying duration. Informal instruction on the basics of cyclo-cross will be offered by more experienced riders; arrive early with your questions if you are interested.

WEATHER:
In the interest of preserving the venue, practice may be canceled or shortened if the weather threatens to compromise the terrain. Always be sure to check the blog for day-of information about the evening’s practice: http://crossbus.blogspot.com

VENUE:
The United Methodist Children’s Home has welcomed us back for our third year of cyclo-cross practices. Our participants have helped us maintain an excellent relationship with UMCH that involves respecting the other groups using the campus as well as the wishes of the staff in regard to parking, etc. We trust you will do the same.

DIRECTIONS:
You are welcome to drive or ride to the practices. Directions from the bike path: http://goo.gl/pKMz Directions from High Street: http://goo.gl/1XsC
